Software Solution of Technical Losses of the Transmission Network System Line

The paper deals with the calculation of technical losses of the transmission network system line. There are presented calculations of Joule losses, corona losses and leakage losses. The main role plays a special software. This software enables to evaluate results in the form of the graph and the tab for following analysis. One of the possibilities of technical losses evaluation in transmission network system is application of the real database in a company that keeps the transmission network system.

Using of PSCAD Software for Simulation Ferroresonance Phenomenon in the Power System with the Three-phase Power Transformer

The problem of the formation of Ferroresonance effect and Ferroresonance overvoltage is more than topical today. By lowering of power losses during electric power transmission the system becomes more sensitive on the consequences of different transient progresses.. So it is important to give an appropriate attention to the analysis and outline of simulation with the usage the most accurate mathematical models, which allow us to study the behaviour of ferroresonance circuit without any risk. In this article, the example of formation and process of ferroresonance effect in the part of power system and use of simulative software PSCAD will be described in detail.

Diagnostics of PV Modules Using Time Domain Reflectometry

In photovoltaic (PV) module diagnostics, the methods most frequently used are based on measuring DC characteristics (mainly I-V curves). In real installations, PV modules are combined with inverters that operate on a high frequency and are connected to a grid. With this in mind, it can also be very useful to know certain AC parameters of the PV modules such as impedance. The method of examining the distribution of the impedance of the module (such as in the case of transmission lines) is called Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR). By a specific distribution of the impedance, it is possible to find the location and to determine the nature of a defect. Moreover, this method can also be used to differentiate modules that have the same nameplate values.

Learning Resources in Sustainable Energy (SustEner)

This paper present comprehensive learning resources developed for education in sustainable energy for professionals from industry, for teachers and also for students. Nine on-line learning modules are available within a modern learning portal. Each module is enriched by remote or virtual experiments that enable the learner to get some practical experience and better understanding of the presented theoretical concepts. Outlines of the learning modules with short description of the remote or virtual experiments are given.

Mathematical Modelling and Predictive Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Drives

The paper deals with a mathematical modelling of the three-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) and their model-based control. These motors are used in drives of robots and machine tools. The construction of their mathematical model is discussed here with respect to a model-based control design. The model is composed via mathematical-physical analysis. The analysis is outlined in the main theoretical points. As a promising model-based approach, the predictive control is explained. It represents just a promising alternative to the standard solution based on the vector cascade control.

Harmonic Balance Method and Combination Resonances in Nonlinear Systems with Polynomial Nonlinearities and Periodic Excitation

In the paper the use of a complex form of the harmonic balance method for the analysis of the dynamic systems with polynomial nonlinearities is described. Two examples are considered, combination resonances are investigated, bifurcation curves are constructed.
